A gas duct with a cylindrical honeycomb insert (22) has a simplified construction in which the insert is located inside the cylindrical central part of the duct by a spacing layer (23) between the insert and the duct. The duct is fitted with conical end pieces (24a,25b) which are pressed into the central section to hold the outer rims of the insert. This leaves the complete cross section of the insert for the gas flow. The insert can be a ceramic catalyser and the duct sections can be metal/ The spacing layer can be glass wool or metal wool.
