PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the precision of the width of an inter-digital electrode, especially, at the boundary of divisional exposure and to improve the reliability of a lateral electric field system while reducing display unevenness at the border of the divisional exposure. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a counter electrode facing pixel electrodes and drives liquid crystal by applying an electric field between the pixel electrodes and counter electrode in parallel to a substrate surface, and a pixel part is exposed repeatedly from one mask for patterning. By this manufacturing method, the high-reliability liquid crystal display device is obtained that display unevenness is reduced at the border part of the divisional exposure.
