PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery allowing a large- current discharging and suppressing the rise of the internal pressure in the battery at the time of quick charging. SOLUTION: Positive electrodes 2 carrying a positive electrode mix mainly made of a nickel compound on current collector sheets, negative electrodes 1 carrying a negative electrode mix mainly made of a hydrogen storage alloy on current collector sheets are laminated or wound in turn via separators 3 to form an electrode group A, the electrode group A is stored in a battery can 5 together with an electrolyte, and the opening of the battery can 5 is sealed with a sealing plate 8 having a positive electrode terminal 10 in this nickel-hydrogen secondary battery. At least the end sections 1A of the negative electrode current collector sheets are conducted to the battery can 5 via a current collector 6a welded and arranged there. The negative electrode mix is the dried body of a kneaded object mixed with carboxy denatured styrene butadiene copolymer latex 0.1-5.0 pts.wt. containing butadiene bond content 30-50 wt.% and toluene insoluble content 60 wt.% or above, nickel flakes or nickel short fibers 0.05-5.0 pts.wt., and carbon black 0.05-5.0 pts.wt. against hydrogen storage alloy powder 100 pts.wt. |
