The device comprises protection element (14) for the under wing surface of the vehicle with side flexibility allowing deformation of side pieces (28) to engage vehicle bodywork. The top surface of the element (14) has clip unit (13) moulded along the center line to engage the upright support (18). The clips (13) are formed with thin horizontal strips (24 in fig 3A) attached to upright pieces (22) re-enforced by side filets (26). The clips (13) may be arranged to straddle the support (13) and engage the end (20) of the upright support (18).
