PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for retaining the freshness for a refrigerator having ethylene removing effects and deodorizing effects and capable of preventing bacteria or molds from propagating by forming a specific freshness retaining material in the interior of the refrigerator. SOLUTION: This structure for retaining the freshness for a refrigerator is obtained by compounding a catalyst supporting material 30 such as active carbon or zeolite molded into a honeycomb shape with an ethylene decomposing catalyst such as palladium (compound), a deodorizing catalyst such as copper, iron, nickel or chromium and an antimicrobial material such as silver, zinc or a compound of the silver and zinc for bacteria or molds, forming a freshness retaining material 28 and installing the resultant freshness retaining material 28 in the interior of the refrigerator. The freshness retaining material 28 is preferably housed in a gas-permeable bag 32 and the amount of the compounded ethylene decomposing catalyst is preferably larger than that of the compounded deodorizing catalyst. |
