SOLUTION: This electric kettle is provided with a heat plate 2 provided with a heater 9 on the central upper part of a pedestal main body 3, a freely attachable and detachable container 5 housing liquid, a thermistor member 37 for sensing that the container 5 is mounted on the heat plate 2, the operation knob 11 for freely switchably setting the menu of a set temperature such as the one for cooking milk by a turning operation on the surface of the pedestal main body 3, a main substrate 15 for operating the ON/OFF of the heater 9 and the boiling control of the container 5, etc., inside the pedestal main body 3 and an operation panel substrate 14 provided with a boiling switch 33 or the like for receiving the operation of the operation knob 11 and being conducted to the main substrate 15.
