PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polycarbonate resin compsn. combining the flame- retardancy and/or weatherability as well as the moldability, impact resistance and heat resistance. SOLUTION: A resin compsn. contains a polycarbonate having a phenolic end group concn. of 5 mole% or more, and a flame retardant of and/or a weathering agent of their sum total of 0.005-50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the polycarbonate. The flame-retardant includes a halogen based-, a phosphorus based-, an organometallic salt based-, and an inorganic based-flame retardants. The weathering agent includes an ultraviolet ray absorber, a radical scavenger, and a quencher. The polycarbonate has a viscosity-average mol.wt. of about 18,000-40,000 and a mol.wt. distribution of about 1.8-3.5. Such a polycarbonate can be obtained by melt-polycondensing an aromatic dihydroxy compd. and a carbonate diester in the presence of a basic ester-interchanging catalyst, e.g. a nitrogen-contg. basic compd.
