PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To couple and uncouple slats without inserting and extracting them at the end parts in the lengthwise direction. SOLUTION: A structure for coupling slats wherein the long side parts of strip-shaped slats 13 and 15 are coupled movably with each other so as to constitute a shutter curtain 11 has a first engagement part 17 formed in the long side part of one adjacent slat 15 and having a practically C-shaped section and a second engagement part 19 formed in the long side part of the other adjacent slat 13 to be engaged with the inside of the first engagement part 17 and having a practically C-shaped section. The first engagement part 17 and the second engagement part 19 can be rotated relatively within a prescribed range of rotational angles around the rotational axis in the direction of the long side and can be moved for disengagement in the direction intersecting perpendicularly the aforesaid rotational axis, at a rotational angle beyond the aforesaid range of rotational angles. Besides, either of the slats 13 and 15 is provided with a stopper 23 as a means for controlling disengagement which controls the aforesaid movement for disengagement or checks the rotation beyond the aforesaid range of rotational angles.
