A drive shaft for a power train in a vehicle links the transmission with the rear axle drive with a single lightweight shaft made of plastic or fibre reinforced material, with a similar elastic modulus as a steel shaft. The spring loaded couplings (4) counteract any lateral displacement of the shaft and provide a deep pass filter effect for vibrations. The resonant frequency of the shaft is higher than the transmission vibrations, which are damped by the filter.
