PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymerization catalyst which yields a poly-α-olefin having a high stereoregularity and good flow properties. SOLUTION: This catalyst comprises (A) a solid catalyst component obtained by pre-polymerizingα-olefins, which essentially comprises (a) a solid component comprising magnesium, titanium, a halogen and an electron-donating compound and (b) an organic aluminum compound of the formula: (R<k> )r Al(Y)3-r (wherein R<k> is an alkyl group or the like; Y is H, an alkoxy group or the like; and 0<=r<=3), (B) an organic aluminum compound of the formula: (R<k> )r Al(Y)3-r (wherein R<k> is an alkyl group or the like; Y is an alkoxy group or the like; and (r) is a given number within the range of 0<=r<=3), (C) an alkyl alkoxysilane compound and (D) a compound of the formula: MetRx (wherein Met is B, Mg, Al, Ga, Ge, In, Sn, Sb, or a transition metal element: R is a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon-containing group; and (x) is the valency of Met).
