The depth and extension of the steering column (1A,1B) is adjusted by rotation of the lever (6A,6B) about a central axis (14). The lever comprises an inner section (6B) with outer section (6A) extendable and lockable in extension. An internal spring (8) causes the lever to return to the contracted length after use.
