A fishing lure (defined herein as a leader, a bait, or a combined leader and bait) having an elongated, flexible, shape-retaining wire body with a predetermined configuration is formed of a superelastic alloy having a transition temperature below about 10 DEG C to enable the wire to elastically regain its predetermined configuration after being deformed, as by being struck by a fish. Lures may take the form of spinner baits and leaders. A spinner bait is disclosed having a wire form imparting rigidity against forces tending to cause legs of the bait to converge. |
