Mobile support jig for working on engine or transmission

A support jig onto which can be secured an engine or a transmission is mounted on a polygonal base plate (12) to which are fitted extending legs (16) with castors (17). The legs are swung outwards and are secured in the selected positions by stays to stabilize the jig. A support platform (60) is mounted on the top of a telescopic support pillar with a hand wheel (30) to raise and lower the platform. The operator hoists the work piece onto the platform and secures it using retainers. The work piece is moved to the different working stations where the height is adjusted to suit the different processes.
