PURPOSE:To provide superior wear resistance and corrosion resistance to steel parts contg. specified amounts of Cr, C, Si and Mn by carburizing the steel parts under specified conditions to form hardened surface layers each contg. M7C3 type carbides precipitated in the structure in a dispersed state. CONSTITUTION:Parts are manufactured using a steel consisting of, by weight, 0.08-0.15% C, <=1% Si, <=1% Mn and 10.0-20.0% Cr as principal components, <=1% Ni, 1.0-3.0% Co, 0.5-3.0% Mo, 0.5-3.0% Cu and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The parts are carburized under conditions which adjust the surface concn. of carbon to 1.0-4.0%. By the carburization, hardened surface layers each contg. M7C3 type carbides precipitated in the martensite structure in a dispersed state are formed. By this method, steel parts having superior wear resistance, especially abrasive wear resistance and corrosion resistance are obtd.
