摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically increase the cycle frequency of a fiber-ring mode-locked laser device which is an appropriate light source for an optical communications system of a large capacity in transmission and to realize an optical communications system of a larger capacity in transmission by using such a laser device as its light source. SOLUTION: A fiber-ring mode synchronous laser device is provided with a ring resonator 9 or a filter area having two photoconductive wave path grating routers for selectively transmitting a desired higher-order longitudinal mode. An optical communications system has a fiber-ring mode synchronous laser device having an light pulse output of a repetition frequency of 10 GHz or more as its light source.
