<p>A surgical instrument assembly (700) for a snare cauterization operation, comprises a tubular member (720) having a diameter sufficiently small so that the tubular member (720) can be inserted through a biopsy channel (704) of a flexible endoscope (706). Multiple endoscopic instruments including a cauterization loop (708), a flexible web member (720) connected to the cauterization loop (708) or to an auxiliary loop (716) so as to form a capture pocket, an elongate flexible fluid feed tube (722) provided at a distal end with a needle point (724) and an aperture (726), are slidably disposed in the tubular member (720). The fluid feed instrument (722) is used to expand a flat or non-projecting polyp prior to severing thereof with the cauterization loop (708) and capture of the severed polyp with the web member (720) or pocket.</p> |
