摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the reliability of the entire system by controlling properly a transmission level of an optical signal with each wavelength received by the system. SOLUTION: A wavelength multiplexer 91 that receives many optical signals with different wavelength multiplexes the received optical signals and sends a wavelength multiplex optical signal to an optical fiber via a transmission characteristic compensation device 73, a transmission optical amplifier 74, and a multiplexer/demultiplexer 93. The wavelength multiplexer 91 has an optical intensity adjustment device that adjusts a level of each input optical signal. While a measurement device such as an analyzer connecting to an external device measures an output optical signal of the transmission optical amplifier 74, the optical intensity adjustment device is adjusted to each input optical signal so that optical signal levels with each wavelength of the transmission optical amplifier 74 are balanced. Furthermore, the power of the multiplexed optical signal received by a transmission characteristic compensation device 77 at a receiver side is adjusted to the level at which the transmission characteristic is completely compensated.
