<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a combustion catalyst capable of stably combusting and obtaining a high purifying performance without changing a combustion characteristic in the case that high temp. combustion is executed at >=1000 deg.C in order to evade poisoning with sulfur. SOLUTION: In the combustion catalyst in which a catalytic metal 13 is supported by coating the surface of a carrier 11 having a honeycomb structure with a coating material, the material in which a first material stable in a high temp. combustion state of >=1000 deg.C, for example,α-alumina, and a second material being its starting material, for example,γ-alumina, coexist is used as the coating material 12. The coating material 12 is obtained by heat treatingγ-alumina and subjecting a part thereof to phase transition toα-alumina, and the coating material 12 is easy in manufacture and good in purifying performance.</p> |
