PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy capable of improving the strength and cold press workability of a lithium-added magnesium alloy, and its production. SOLUTION: An ingot having a magnesium alloy composition consisting of 10.5-40 wt.% lithium and the balance magnesium with inevitable impurities is hot rolled and then cold rolled at >=30% draft. Subsequently, the resultant rolled stock is subjected to temperature raise up to 140 to 150 deg.C at (1 to 2) deg.C/sec temperature rise rate, held for >=60 min, and cooled. By this method, the magnesium alloy, having 3 to 40μm average crystalline grain size, and its rolled product can be obtained.
