An automotive oscillation dampener has first (12) and second (16) torque transfer components and a dampener (20) linking and on which the transfer components rotate about a common axis (A). The dampener has an energy storage unit (26) which may slide back and forth along an axis (A1) to allow relative rotation between the first and second transfer components. When there is relative rotation between the first and second transfer components, the position of the energy storage unit remains essentially unchanged.
