PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a both-side original reader capable of reading S both sides of a sheet-like original and also the one-side original of a thick spread book. SOLUTION: When both sides of the sheet-like original are read; the sheet-like original is moved, movable optical systems 51 and 52 are moved and stopped at the end of an original platen 55, the one surface of the original is read, and the other surface of the original is read by a fixed optical system 69 and a CCD(2) provided on the upper surface end of the original platen. When one- side original is read; the original is placed on the glass 55, the systems 51 and 52 are moved, and the original is read. |
