PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove non-text information from a page containing a text by providing a processor which removes non-text color channels and maintains text color channels. SOLUTION: An image processing program removes non-text components from a digitally captured color image representing a page containing text information and non-text information. For example, an image which can be put in an RGB color space is read first (S102). The respective pixels of the image are related to values for the respective color channels in the color space. Then the colors of the text are discriminated (S104) and then a 1st color space is converted to a color space wherein the primary colors are close to text colors (S106). Then text color channels are selected (S108). When the text is black, a K channel of a CMKY color space is selected and other channels are discarded. |
