PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply detect a clogging of a treating membrane and a capacity deterioration of a suction pump. SOLUTION: In the sewage purifying device, a membrane treating device 2 is provided in a sewage treating tank 1 and a treated water is discharged from the membrane treating device 2 by the suction pump 4 through an effluent pipe 3. An upper limit water level and a lower limit water level of the sewage treating tank 1 are set. The device is set so that the operation of the suction pump 4 is started when the water level of the sewage treating tank 1 reaches the upper limit water level and the operation of the suction pump 4 is stopped when the water level of the sewage treating tank 1 reaches the lower limit water level. Abnormality detecting means detecting an abnormal state where the water level does not become the lower limit water level from the upper limit water level within a fixed time is provided.
