PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber product having high strength and excellent gloss, crease resistance and dyeability by treating a cellulosic fiber product with an alkali having high concentration. CONSTITUTION: A fiber product containing cotton fiber is immersed in stretched state into an aqueous solution of caustic soda having a concentration of 10-40wt.% and the caustic soda is quickly neutralized and removed by using a gaseous substance quickly reactive with caustic soda such as carbon dioxide gas, hydrogen chloride gas or sulfur dioxide gas to obtain a fiber product imparted with strength, gloss, crease resistance, etc., superior to those attained by the conventional mercerization process. The product has high absorbency of dye. |
