[Class 29.] A container 10 for liquefied gases is provided with an outer casing surrounding an insulating space 18 which contains a metal shield 200 cooled intermittently by the liquid withdrawal conduit 141 and the gas escape conduit 162 which are coiled round the shield. A portion 16 of the gas escape conduit may be coiled round the vessel 10 itself. The insulating space communicates with the atmosphere through a trap 30 containing a drying agent such as calcium chloride, barium oxide or phosphorus pentoxide. |
