PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for culturing a methanol-assimilating yeast in enhanced productivity of heterologous proteins, by culturing a methanol- assimilating yeast which was transformed with heterologous protein-coding genes by adding methanol and aspartate in an amount corresponding to the amount of methanol. SOLUTION: This method comprises transforming a methanol-assimilating yeast such as Pichia pastoris, Hansenula polymorpha, and Candida boidinii, by transducing genes which code for heterologous proteins comprising biologically active proteins such as interleukin 6, interleukin 6-receptor, derivatives from these, followed by culturing the transformed methanol-assimilating yeast by adding methanol and aspartate in an amount corresponding to the amount of methanol to express the heterologous proteins. This method allows enhanced and efficient production of heterologous proteins. |
