PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a high quality image by avoiding unevenness of display caused by the heat from a light source of a back light. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device which is provided with at least a liquid crystal panel having oriented films ORI1, ORI2 respectively on the inner faces of a pair of transparent substrates SUB1, SUB2 having an electrode for picture element selection at least on one of the oppositely arranged substrates, holding a liquid crystal layer LC between the oriented films, and having polarizing plates POL1, POL2 laminated on respective outer surfaces of a pair of the substrates, a driving circuit means for impressing a voltage corresponding to the display signal on the liquid crystal panel, and a backlight installed on the back of the liquid crystal panel having a linear lamp LP as a light source, and which is fixed by an upper frame having a display window and a lower frame connected with this upper frame on the peripheral edge, angles between the polarization axes POL1S, POL2S of the polarizing plates POL1, POL2 and the oriented directions ORI1S, ORI2S of the oriented films ORI1, ORI2 are made zero degree or 90 degree. |
