<p>The invention pertains to flame-retardant material prepared from hydrates of polymers that can be used for the manufacture of flame-retardant materials, such as composites, fabrics, non-wovens, films, foams, and paper, with a significant improvement with respect to the non-hydrated materials. Preferred are hydrates of hydroxy-containing polymers, and more preferably fully hydrated rigid rod polymers, in particular fully hydrated PIPD fibers.</p> |
