The repairable coaxial foil capacitor is for insertion in high frequency coaxial transmission lines. The capacitor has a variable diameter characteristic and its two electrodes have different coefficients of expansion with the ratio greater than 1.3/1. The capacitor comprises an outer sleeve (1) with an inner sleeve (2) retained under compression inside it. The two sleeves (1,2) are completely silvered over their surfaces and are separated by a dielectric (3). The two sleeves (1,2) are different lengths with the outer (1) extending beyond the inner and being closed by an end cap support (7). The sleeves have little mechanical strength and have stepped (5,6) inner caps to support the inner sleeve (2).
