Improvements in the manufacture of steels particularly free from occlusions in a basic electric furnace

Steel manufactured in a basic electric furnace is, after desulphurization and deoxidation under a basic slag, carburized with the usual additions to above the desired carbon content and then the excess carbon is removed by oxidizing agents or oxygen. The excess carbon is preferably 0.2 per cent.
