<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the striking sound likely generated when a friction engaging element such as clutch or brake is put into engagement. SOLUTION: A spline groove 10d is provided at the inside surface of a brake drum 10b formed in a single piece with an automatic transmission case, and a notch 18e is furnished on at least one of the projections 18d formed at the periphery of a driven plate 18b which is engaged by the spline groove 10d, and a rib 21d formed on the girder surface 21c of a leaf spring 21 inserted from the open end of the spline groove 10d is detained with the notch 18e. When a torque is transmitted by the engaging motion from the drive plate to the driven plate 18b, the driven plate 18b rotates, and presses the leaf spring 21 to cause its deflection when the plate 18b is getting over the rib 21d of the leaf spring 21, and the reaction force exerted at this time relieves the impact applied from the projections 18d to the side wall of the spline groove 10d, and thereby the striking sounds are decreased.</p> |
