<p>This process consists of three main stages:- <DL TSIZE=8> <DT>Stage 1<DD>Cooling <DT>Stage 2<DD>Crushing <DT>Stage 3<DD>Separation </DL> <H1>Stage 1</H1> The tyre is exposed to a rapid cooling agent (liquid nitrogen or some other substance capable of producing a similar effect) in order to render the tyre brittle. <H1>Stage 2</H1> The tyre is then crushed or impacted to break it down to a granular/powder form. <H1>Stage 3</H1> The residue from Stage 2 is exposed to a magnetic field in order to separate the bulk of the steel granules from the rubber granules.</p> |
