PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air belt device to have an air belt softly fitted in an occupant, shorten the length of the air belt during collision, and reliably protect the occupant. SOLUTION: An air belt 2B comprises a bag-form belt; and a knit cover formed of a woven fabric to surround the bag-form belt. The bag-form belt is formed such that the part, extending from the breast of an occupant seating a seat to his belly, of the belt is formed in a wide shape. By folding the width spread part, the belt is formed in a long belt-like state. The weaving state thereof is such that a knit cover is elasticity expanded and contracted in the direction of width but hardly stretched in a longitudinal direction. When a gas generating device 9 is operated with a tongue 5 mounted on a buckle device 4, an air belt 2B is expanded. In this case, the length in a longitudinal direction of the air belt 2B of the knit cover is shortened, an air belt 2B is adhered to the occupant and the occupant is extremely reliably protected. |
