PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject novel substance that has excellent anti-tumor action and is useful as a therapeutic agent for cancer. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by the formula and has the following physical and chemical properties: description; yellow amorphous solid or crystals; the molecular formula: C22 H9 N2 O4 Cl5 ; mass spectrometry: [high- resolution FAB-MS] the observed value of 540.9055, the calculated value of 540.9085 as (M+H)<+> ; solubility: readily soluble in organic solvents as dimethyl sulfoxide, slightly soluble in water; distinction of acidic, neutral and basic: almost neutral. This compound is obtained by culturing a microorganism that is capable of producing the compound of the formula such as Streptomyces sp. A 55051 (FERM P-16028) and collecting the compound from the cell bodies. In a preferred embodiment, this microorganism is cultured aerobically by the shaking culture or by aerobic submerged culture. The culture medium is kept at a pH of 4-8, the temperature of 12-39 deg.C for 120-216 hours. |
