<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a control method therefor allowing high precision correction of color shift while maintaining productivity even in intermittent printing where the in-machine temperature repeatedly climbs up and down by minimizing down time for measuring a color shift amount. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: forming toner marks of all of each color at the timing of color shift correction; measuring a relative color shift amount of one different color against reference color if a condition for correcting the color shift is determined to be unsatisfactory as a result of measuring relative color shift amounts of the all colors; predicting a relative color shift amount between a color other than the one different color and the reference color based on the measured relative color shift amount between the one different color and the reference color; correcting the color shift of the one different color based on the measured amount of color shift; and correcting the color shifts of the colors other than the one different color based on the predicted amount of color shift. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
