An alcohol, ester or low molecular weight alcohol polymer fuel is incorporated together with a colour-providing substance into vermiculite, wood charcoal, aluminium fibres, coke or cellulosic fibre material. A composition which generates coloured flames when burnt, without forming yellow flames and not requiring a wick, comprises the following : (A) a porous material (A1) chosen from vermiculite, wood charcoal, aluminium fibres or coke, or mixtures thereof, and/or a combustible material (A2) based on cellulosic fibres ; (B) a fuel chosen from 1-5C alcohols containing 1-4 hydroxyl groups, esters containing one or more ester groups, or low molecular weight alcohol polymers, or mixtures thereof ; and (C) a colour-providing substance. An Independent claim is also included for a large outdoor candle lit to welcome party guests, which contains the above composition. |
