<p>The invention relates to a device (1) for degerminating water passing through a sanitary appliance, comprising a housing (2) through which water can flow, e.g., a water outlet, and a UV lamp located therein. Said UV lamp radiates the water flowing through the housing and optionally, a filtering device which is also provided in said housing, in order to destroy the micro-organisms in the water and/or the filtering device. The energy supply circuit (11) of the UV-lamp is controlled by an electronic control unit (14). Said electronic control unit also controls a valve driver circuit (13) for a magnetic valve (6) located in the fresh water feed pipe (2). The electronic control unit (14) activates the energy supply circuit (11) as soon as it receives a signal for switching on the UV-lamp. The valve driver circuit (13) is activated after a certain time delay. This ensures that by the time the magnetic valve opens (6), letting water flow through the housing (1) to the actual outlet (3) of the sanitary appliance, the UV-lamp has already reached its full radiation capacity.</p> |
