PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wrong image formation by taking out paper in the same direction as the detected direction of a document regardless of the assignment of an assigning means, and forming a read image on this paper. SOLUTION: During standby, a main control part 101 judges whether an automatic document size detecting mode is on. A document of required size is set lengthwise on a document table, and a document keep cover is closed. Then detectors 111-113 are turned on, and a signal indicating required size length is supplied to the main control part 101 from a document size detecting part 104. The main control part 101 therefore judges that the document of required size length is placed. A paper feeding cassette stored with paper corresponding to the judged required size length is selected, and a paper display 96a of a control panel 5 is lighted for display. When a copy key is closed on the basis of this display, the main control part 101 photocopies the read image of the document on the document table on selected paper corresponding to the required size using a photocopying part 102. |
