The cutter has a forward-mounted double-bladed structure with cutting edges (29) in both directions. It acts as thrust cutter (9), and also has a double swing action (S) against the coal face. The structure has two blades, with curvatures in the same direction, to give cutting blades (27,28) with cutters (29) at their free ends, on a common carrier (21).
