<p>A security device (10) for preventing a door from being forced open comprises a head member (11) mountable on the door, a first leg member (13) pivotally depending from the head member (11) so that it can be deployed outwards from the door, and a second leg member (14) telescopically mounted on the first leg member (13). When the second leg member (14) is fully extended and the first leg member (13) is pivoted outwards, a foot (17) contacts the floor and prevents the door from being pushed inwards. A stiff spring mounted in the first leg member (13) causes a projection to be pushed through an aperture in the second leg member (14) when the device is fully extended, and a strengthening steel plate which has a corresponding aperture is mounted over the aperture in the second leg member (14) so as to prevent the locking mechanism from being broken or forced. A luminous button (15) is provided for easy disengagement of the locking mechanism despite the stiffness of the spring employed.</p> |
