Method for simulating a nonlinear amplifier with envelope memory

The procedure involves measuring non-linear amplitude characteristics and amplitude/phase shift characteristics and developing such characteristics as a series of direct transfer functions. The characteristics are determined at different frequencies, and form them direct transfer functions are generated with associated frequency corrections. The amplitude modulation distortion characteristics are measured, each measurement being effected by modulating the input amplitude. Modulation transfer functions are calculated and distortions corrected, in order to simulate the envelope memory effect of the amplifier.
