PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an active material or foreign matter from being dropped and penetrated into an equalizing chamber to prevent the expansion of a bellows or break the bellows by providing a filter between a battery case and the equalizing chamber to allow the free pass of an electrolyte. SOLUTION: A filter 21 is provided on the bottom part of a battery case 11 so as to cover an opening part 11a on the bottom of the battery case 11. The filter 21 allows the free pass of an electrolyte 19, but arrests the pass of a foreign matter. An equalizing chamber 18 is situated in the lower part of the battery case 11, and electrode terminals 16, 17 are provided on the upper part of the battery case 11. An active material or foreign matter is often dropped from an electrode body 13 by vibration or impact while a battery 10 is used. The foreign matter falls in the electrolyte 19 and reaches the bottom part of the battery case 11, but it can be surely prevented from being penetrated from the battery case 11 to the equalizing chamber 18 since the filter 21 is provided on the bottom of the battery case 11. |
