Silage is preserved by treating it with a small but silage preserving effective amount of the microorganism Propionibacterium jensenii or the genetic equivalents thereof; the amount ranging from 10exp(8) to 10exp(14) of vital organisms per a tone of said silage. An agent for silage preserving, according to this method, contains a mixture of the microorganism Propionibacterium jensenii or the genetic equivalents thereof and Lactobacillus or the genetic equivalents thereof, always in the range from 10exp(8) to 10exp(14) of vital organisms per a tone of said silage. |
