PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having activity for enhancing insulin action and differentiation-inducing activity by including a compound having lanostane skeleton or 3,4-secolanostane skeleton as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This composition has at least one kind of compound among compounds of formula I (R1 is H or CH3 ; R2 A is β-OH, β-OCOCH3 , α-OH, etc.; R3 is H or OH; R4 is C(=CH2 )-C(CH3 )2 -Ra , etc.; Ra is H or OH; R6 is CH3 or CH2 OH), etc., and compounds of formula II (R2 B is H or CH3 ; R5 is H or OH). The compound of formula I includes e.g. polyporenic acid C or 3-O-acetyl-16 α-hydroxytrametenolic acid and the compound of formula II includes e.g. polycoic acid A. These compounds are obtained by extracting Hoelen or dried skin of pachyma hoelen which is a crude medicine. These compounds or the extracts are used as compositions such as pharmaceutical preparations, preparations for external uses, cosmetic compositions, functional foods or health foods. |
