摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tin oxide having a large electric charging and discharging capacity by preparing a precursor solution containing both organic solvent-soluble tin compound and/or metallic tin with one or more kinds of compounds of an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth element, a transition element, an element belonging to 13th, 14th or 15th group of the Periodic Table and a chalcogen element, spray drying the solution to form spherical gel particles and when burning. SOLUTION: This method for producing the tin oxide powder is to prepare a precursor solution by adding and dissolving a tin compound such as SnCl2 and metallic tin in an amount of attaining 0.60-1.80 atomic ratio of a halogen/tin, a compound of an element of 15th group of the Periodic Table such as SbCl3 as a second component elemental compound and a high boiling compound such as a polyethylene glycol having 100-100000 weight averaged molecular weight, etc., in an organic solvent such as methanol, performing a polycondensation reaction, removing the solvent by spray drying the obtained solution to form stable spherical gel particles, burning the gel particles in an oxidative gas atmosphere within the temp. range of 250-1200 deg.C for 0.03-24 hr to obtain a powder consisting of spherical particles having 1-100 μm mean particle diameter and 0.66-1.00 mean proportionality.
