A method for increasing the number of articles that may be printed with inks containing platelet-like pigments comprises providing a printing blanket with an outer film of a polymeric thermoplastic material that has a low affinity for platelet-like pigments, and transferring the ink from the blanket to the article while reducing the rate of ink build-up on the blanket, thus increasing the service time of the blanket before it requires cleaning. Specifically, the printing article may be paper and at least about 8,000 to as high as 15,000 to 20,000 sheets can be printed without cleaning the blanket. |
