PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a woolen fabric having fullness, a thick wall feeling, warmth retaining properties and pill resistance unique to the woolen yarn and further unique soft and waxy touch feeling, odor, warmth retaining, antimicrobial and deodorizing properties, etc., possessed by wool, etc., imparted thereto. SOLUTION: This woolen fabric is composed of a woolen yarn comprising polyester staple fibers and polyester filament yarns and a hydrophobic substance is fixed through a binder resin to the fibers constituting the fabric in single fiber units. The single fibers are mutually independent. The method for producing the woolen fabric comprises weaving the woolen yarns composed of the polyester staple fibers and the polyester filament yarns as warp and weft yarns, forming the woolen fabric, then carrying out the napping treatment of the woolen fabric, subsequently immersing the napped fabric in an aqueous solution containing the hydrophobic substance, binder resin and a surfactant, then heat- treating the resultant fabric under wet conditions at a temperature not lower than the cloud point of the surfactant and subsequently performing the finishing treatment of the surface fuzzes of the woolen fabric. |
