<p>A process for the preparation of an ink composition, enabling the provision of an ink composition which little causes feathering and can give dots having a large diameter even when the amount of ink ejected is decreased. This process comprises preparing a dispersion from a pigment, a dispersant, water and a polyhydric alcohol alkyl ether derivative wherein the alkyl has 3 or more carbon atoms and/or an acetylene glycol represented by general formula (I) by the use of a dispersion mixer and preparing an ink from this dispersion. As compared with the ink prepared by the process which comprises preparing a dispersion from a pigment and a dispersant and adding a polyhydric alcohol alkyl ether derivative wherein the alkyl has 3 or more carbon atoms and/or an acetylene glycol represented by general formula (I) to the dispersion, the ink composition prepared by the above process is reduced in feathering and can realize a large dot diameter even in a reduced amount of ink ejected. In said formula R?1, R2, R3 and R4¿ are each independently C¿1?-C6 alkyl; and n and m are such integers as to give a sum of 0 to 30.</p> |
