The box-like cover of the invention is destined to be installed over an air conditioner unit or the like, against a building wall. The cover is formed of an inner and an outer rigid casing with an intermediate insulating layer. The inner casing has an outturned lip at its peripheral edge which releasably merges with the peripheral edge of the outer casing, thus entirely enclosing the intermediate insulating layer. The lip has a sealing bushing fixedly attached thereon, that sealingly engages the building wall against which the cover is to be installed. Toggle lever attachments are provided for realeasably anchoring the cover to hooks on the building wall. The outer casing is clipped onto the inner casing outturned lip, for releasable attachment of one to the other, so as to allow access to the insulating layer. 19
