Food products are shaped and cooked in moulds contained in stackable frames. The moulds are U-shaped troughs (3), a number of which are held parallel between the metal end walls (1) and side walls (2) of the frame. Each trough is covered by a horizontal plate attached to vertical end plates, each of which carries two lugs (14). These lugs fit into vertical slots (15) in the end walls of the frame so the cover has some freedom of movement vertically. A spring (8) between the cover plate and the trough above keeps the product in the trough compressed.
